hold a radio over my head

is such a charming film (: Amazing chemistry between Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, who also happen to be two of my favourites, though I do wish Hugh Grant would try out a different character-type–he’s more or less the same in quite a few movies already, but the lucky thing is that he’s amazing at that. But yes well, lovely film indeed (: Mm and I do like the set– London’s one of my favourite cities, it’s so old and quaint, so full of stories and so alive brimming with cultural vibrancy, with all its historical architecture dotting the streets at every corner so naturally like they’ve belonged there forever (okay, to be fair, they have). London’s perfect for this story. I wish I didn’t miss the beginning of the film><  Oh well, that gives me an excuse to watch it again doesn’t it :P

I think I just might have found the sweetest movie moment! Towards the end, Anna Scott, humbled and small despite her Oscar glory, goes to find William Thacker at the bookshop after everything that has happened. She asks him if they could date (okay the way I’m describing it makes it sound awfully unromantic but I really can’t remember the details and whoever’s reading this you should watch it so go!) and he rejects her gently. Perhaps reject is too strong a verb. Actually he asks if he could reject her. And you know it goes on and in the end she says, “Don’t forget, I’m also just a girl, standing in front of boy, asking him to love her.”

(: Mmhmm and then things in between and ah, the ending is thankfully uncheesily romantic–the series of exchanges at the press conference. I think this is the sort of thing only Grant is able to pull off. And oh yes, very nice soundtrack, especially good incorporation of When You Say Nothing At All. Mm and I know this is totally trivial, but my mom insists that we’ve been to Thacker’s bookshop on Portobello Street when we visited UK. I really don’t remember though :/

Ahhhh I think this movie is going to be my favourite for a very long time. I can’t believe I didn’t discover this earlier! Quirky, but absolutely endearing and very memorable (:
